The Westbay Iris
Society is made of folks that share a common interest and passion for
the beautiful and very diverse iris family. Although our focus is often
on the bearded irises, we collect and admire the other forms such as
the pacific coast irises (PCI) and spurias to name a few.
Membership
in Westbay Iris Society is open to
all. Westbay is a nonprofit organization affiliated with the American
Iris Society. See link above to join.
We
meet at the Shoup Park Garden House, 400 University
Avenue, Los Altos, starting at 7:30 PM (click here for
directions),
on the third Friday of each month except May, July, August and
December.
- In April we hold our spring show and potted iris
sale
- In
July we hold a potluck luncheon which includes an auction and raffle
for bearded iris
- August
is plant sale month when we sell the dormant rhizomes
All
other meetings
include a program covering one of the various types of irises, their
culture, or other iris related topics.
At
our regular meetings we have a door prize drawing of recently
hybridized irises. It is a fun way to encourage people to attend the
meetings. This next meeting.
